Latest COVID-19 Update (May 21, 2021)

With the recent recommendations from the CDC, along with the governor’s orders earlier this month, the leadership of Ascension Lutheran Church has decided to lift all COVID-19 restrictions on campus.

Please know that we still advocate safety and security, so if you prefer to continue social distancing and wearing masks, you may. But, those individuals who choose not to are free to do so.

We ask that all members and visitors respect each other’s decisions on this matter. What is most important is that we remain a “joyful community” as we seek to return to a normal setting of worship and fellowship here at Ascension.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Pastor Raleigh Sims or Carla Campbell.

COVID-19 Update (March 26, 2021)

We are all so grateful that the COVID-19 virus finally appears to be slowing down its affliction on the world, and that so many people are now getting vaccinated, especially our seniors, first-responders, front-line workers, and individuals with compromised health. We continue to pray that all people will be safe through successful vaccination or eradication of the virus.

While the vaccine implementation is such great news and a positive step forward, it is not yet an eradication measure for the virus. People who have been vaccinated can still get the virus and pass the virus on to others.

Therefore, Ascension’s leadership is following the continued county mandate and asking all persons to continue to wear their masks while on campus, wash their hands frequently with warm water and soap, and maintain social distance (especially while inside our campus buildings).

Also, we will invite our “non-Ascension” groups back to campus in April, with our campus protocol guidelines as a requirement for their return. Beginning Easter Sunday, we will also have our “coffee service” available again on Sunday mornings. This will not be a “fellowship hour” as we do not currently have a spare hour between services. Instead, the coffee can be enjoyed during Bible study.

We fully understand the frustration of masks on campus, and we all feel that anxiety of being ready to “return to normal” as well. But we are not quite there yet and must continue to practice patience as a matter of prudence.

We have come so far now in protecting each other and the campus from the virus. Let us not let our guard down now!

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
