A recent article published by the University of Minnesota states that the United States has now “crested 4.5 million cases” of the COVID-19 virus, and that “the rising case counts have led to an erosion of American confidence”.

In this time, it is common for us all to experience feelings of discouragement, worry, fear, and an overall sense of fragility and weakness. Because of this, it is important to have confidence and determination – the kind that transcends the physical and reaches into the spiritual battlefield. Satan is our ultimate enemy, and he delights in sowing confusion, doubt, and fear. He wants us to stop doing the work of God’s Kingdom.

The book of James tells us that if we feel threatened or distracted in any way, we are to seek God, renew our confidence in Him, and be determined to do His work. Don’t be intimidated or discouraged. Instead, “submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

This week let us make room for more confidence. Renew your commitment to Him, stay focused on the promises of His Word, doing the work He has called you to do. He will protect us and grant us the victory, because “there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him” (Philippians 3:20-21).
