How decisions are made at Ascension
Some congregations are pastor-driven. We were that under Pastor Zehnder. It typically works well for a mission planter but rarely after the congregation has matured. Some congregations are
people-driven. Whatever group in the congregation has the most votes gets to make the decisions. This is not an efficient way to do ministry and produces a high level of conflict. Some congregations are
purpose-driven. The leadership makes decisions in accord with the purpose or vision the congregation has adopted. The most effective congregations are purpose-driven and people-sensitive. By
people-sensitive we mean sensitive to the needs of the current membership but also sensitive to the unchurched people who that church is trying to reach. Ascension's ministry is all about
discipleship, and discipleship is all about relationships. We are dedicated to knowing Christ better so that we can serve Him and others better.
