On Sunday, September 12, the Timothy Lewis Band (including Dennie Prado) is playing for the contemporary service instead of the Stones. They’re going to play a pre-service song, so they want people there early. They play both originals and songs that are heard on the Christian Rock stations. |

September Stewardship Emphasis…..Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Cor 9:7. Late last year our stewardship campaign emphasized two things: 1) That the amount you give flows from your need to give, not our need to make a budget; and 2) God loves cheerful givers. So, let me help you with both of these. Please take the time to review your giving for the year. If you are giving more that you thought you would – praise God! If you are giving less than what you decided in your heart to give, then September is a great time to bring that giving up to what you intended. And to help you do that cheerfully please enjoy this “Gift Giving” story for this week.
“A man called the church and asked to speak to the “Head Hog at the Trough.” The secretary said, rather tersely, “Sir, if you are speaking of our pastor we call him Doctor or Pastor or PM or Opa or Dave, but not the Head Hog at the Trough. The man answered, “Well I have $10,000 I want to contribute to your church.” “Hold the line Sir, I think the Big Pig just walked in the door.”
“Ascension’s Year of Jubilee: Fun Facts”
Ascension’s connections with Venezuela as a mission field: We are all aware of the “Team of Ten” volunteers from Ascension who visited “The Farm” in April of 2008. Less known is that way, way back in 1975, Ascension made its first contact with Venezuela when we sent $1,000 for the mission project Cristo Para Todas Las Naciones.
